Today, during “NACE – Milano Italia Section Study Day”, held during the event “SMART GRID DAYS 2020” organized by Automa, we presented our paper “Calculation methods for Cathodic Protection sizing in high resistivity environment – Practical approach”.
The paper, addressed in a didactical way, is about the practical approach of design of a cathodic protection system for an oil pipeline buried in high resistivity soil.
Different sizing parameters have been analyzed by comparison with different design choices.
The discussion shows varies results obtained by this comparison, giving the CP designer an exhaustive view of the possible case studies that can be encountered in this kind of environment.
Particular attention has been made to the influence of high resistivity on design choices and how to make these choices in order to design a CP system that can fulfill good operativity even in high resistivity environments and according to current legislation.
