Techfem completes a pre-feasibility study outlining future energy scenarios in Malta

As leader of a project consortium with SPS, we have delivered to Melita TransGas Ltd., an affiliate of the Ministry of Energy and Water Management of Malta, a pre-feasibility study in support of the domestic energy strategy.

We have investigated several options by means of a multi-criteria analysis, both at technical and economical level, including:

  • a combined cycle power plant fuelled by hydrogen imported from Italy via an offshore pipeline;
  • a combined system of floating windfarms and photovoltaic parks linked to Lithium-ion battery storage units;
  • an onshore LNG regasification and storage terminal connected to the existing Delimara power plant;
  • a set of HVDC and AC subsea interconnectors linked to different Mediterannean countries, feeding into Lithium-ion battery storage units.

In recent years we have developed a substantial know-how in the design of facilities in the renewables sector, from generation to transportation and storage.
