Techfem awarded the precommissioning works of TAP offshore pipeline

In January 2018 Saipem awarded to Techfem a turnkey contract for the pre-commissioning works of the offshore segment of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) interconnection system. The offshore leg features a 36” nominal diameter, a design pressure of 145 barg, a maximum water depth of 812 metres and is approximately 105 km long, with landfalls in Albania and Italy.
Techfem’s scope of work encompasses the engineering, the provision of all equipment and personnel, the execution of all pre-commissioning services both in Italy and Albania.
The engineering activities have already started in Techfem design centre in Fano, Italy. The operations at sites include:
• Flooding, Cleaning and Gauging
• Hydrostatic Testing
• Dewatering
• Drying
• Nitrogen Purging
as well as cleaning and dewatering, in case wet buckle contingency arises during pipeline laying.
The TAP offshore pre-commissioning contract represents a major breakthrough in the development of Techfem capabilities.
This award follows other activities performed by Techfem, such as the basic and detail design of the 56” dia., 56-km onshore segment connecting the TAP receiving terminal and SnamReteGas tie-in point.
